About Bergen Decks

Deck building is a highly specialized niche of the construction industry. Make no mistakes, not every contractor is fit to construct a safe and modern deck in your backyard.

After making his mark as a remodeling contractor in northern New Jersey, Greg DiBernardo began Bergen Decks to satisfy his passion of design and building decks.

Greg has become a nationally recognized deck builder as a recurring contributor to Professional Deck Builder Magazine, The Journal of Light Construction and other industry publications. He also works as a research and development consultant to several deck industry manufacturers, assisting them with the design of new products from fasteners to deck boards, to railings!

We are members of the North American Deck and Railing Association and abide by its code of conduct and best practices. A few of the highlights of our NADRA pledge are:

• To observe the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and responsibility in the conduct of business.
• To make all advertising and sales promotions factually accurate with respect to products and services offered; to avoid practices that tend to deceive the customer with regard to pricing, warranties, certifications, financing, licenses, or insurance.

We cater to local clients demanding superior service, design, installation and quality for their exterior deck projects. We handle all aspects of the deck building and backyard design process from consultation, permitting, construction and clean-up. Our clients appreciate the fact that we are extremely detail oriented and do not take shortcuts.

"Just wanted to share with you the GREAT experience I had working with Greg DiBernardo of Fine Home Improvements of Waldwick. We had the desparate need to replace the stairs going up (12 ft) to our second floor and had contacted and priced the project with many competent contractors. I located Greg while doing a search on the internet, and had him come to provide an estimate. After meeting with him, I immediately knew he was the best person for the job (before I even got the estimate).

He proved me right by providing a professionally prepared, detailed estimate in a timely manner. Upon initiating the contract, he worked with the architect to adjust plans (that had some flaws that needed repair to pass inspection and actually get built : ) and followed-up on making sure the Architect got the work done. He provided sound advice on high quality materials and options we could use, while still not blowing our budget out of the water. He came the week before the scheduled "build" and dug through a surprisingly "three layers" of cement, bricks and whatnot to ready holes for the pilings (excuse me if I use wrong terms here : ). He took care of the permits and approvals, showed up when promised (that is HUGE), cleaned up meticulously each day and, most importantly, he came and built a beautiful stairway (deckish) that looks terrific and feels solid and strong! I am confident the finished project will last far beyond it's expected years!
