If ever there was an extreme makeover, this was it. Originally, a deck ran all the way across the back of the house. Prior owners built a screened-in porch over half the original deck and left the other half in tact....well, sort of...
We arrived to find the existing deck in terrible shape, both cosmetically and, more importantly, structurally. We couldn't do anything about the deck under the screened-in porch, so we surgically removed the exposed deck and reframed a new deck that is bombproof.
A portion of the new deck was extended to create a nook for the barbecue grill. On the deck itself, we custom built three planter boxes interconnected with two benches.
To add even more entertaining area, we added a 400 square foot concrete paver patio.
Future updates we'll do include installing skirting under the deck and screened-in porch as well as re-screening the porch and installing new exterior trim.
